Randy Little CROPRandy Blake Little, 74 of Hiddenite, passed away March 22, 2019 at Carolina Caring in Sherrills Ford.  He was born in Alexander County on August 24, 1944, to Rev. Henkle and Mrs. Mildred Fox Little.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant brother Michael.

Randy’s careers included the furniture industry, ministry, and trucking.  As a founding member of the Sons of Faith Quartet, he traveled with his family, singing southern gospel music in churches across the southeast, as well as recording five albums.  Nothing pleased him more than singing an up-tempo song with a strong bass lead.

Randy is survived by his devoted wife, Margaret Fox Pennell of the home; daughter, Dana Little of Taylorsville; son, Byron Little and wife Shay of Kent, OH; granddaughters, Aulbri Little Johnson and husband Michael of Dalton, GA, and Hali Little of Kent, OH; brothers, Craig Little and wife Linda of Wilkesboro, and Lanny Keever and wife Doris of Taylorsville; sister, Melva Little Payne and husband Ron of Cumming, GA; step-daughter, Kim James and husband Terry of Taylorsville; step-granddaughter, Brooke James, and step-grandson Cody James, both of Taylorsville.

Love and appreciation are given to extended family members and special friends: Mima Jean and Lynn Marshall; Wade and Karen Fox; Wayne and Diane Livingston; and Donnie and Patsy Goforth.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2019 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Calvary Baptist Church in Taylorsville with the funeral service following at 3:00 pm. Burial will then be done at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church Cemetery in Hiddenite, NC.

Walter Lackey,77

Walter LackeyWalter Stephen Lackey, age 77, of Taylorsville, passed away Tuesday evening, March 26, 2019, in Valley Nursing Center. Born June 11, 1941, to the late Earl and Emma Lee Lackey, he was owner of Catawba Welding. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed scuba diving. He was a licensed pilot and loved to fly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Lackey.

He is survived by three sons: Jeff Lackey and wife, Donna, Doug Lackey and wife Lisa, Mark Lackey and fiancé, Tereasa Propst, all of Taylorsville. Grandchildren who will remember him: Trent Lackey, Josh Lackey, Tiffanie Lackey, Kristen Lackey, Shania Pope, Justin Pope, Dalton Lackey and Dakota Lackey. Great grandchildren: Lia Hawthorn, and Jackson Setzer.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 30, from 2-3:00 p.m. at Alexander Funeral and Cremation Service, with services at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Burial will be in Linney’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Edna Crowder Houser, age 95, of Hickory, went home to be with her Lord on March 24, 2019. Born July 26, 1923 to the late Dewey and Essie Crowder of Lincoln County, she was a member of Tri-City Baptist Church of Hickory. She loved her Sunday School class, the Rubies, and enjoyed fellowship with special friends and family. She was known for her encouraging and fun-loving spirit and her memory will be cherished by a host of family and friends.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Ford Houser of thirty-five years; her son, John Keith Houser; her grandson, Ronald Lee Brittain; and an infant granddaughter. She was also preceded in death by the following siblings: Dean Baxter, Mae Hallman, Bill Crowder, and Palmer Crowder.

Surviving are three daughters, Reba Yarborough and husband Rev. Marvin Yarborough of Charleston, SC; Rebecca Brittain of Hickory; and Barbra Huffman of Charlotte. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Danielle Yarborough of Raleigh, Phillip Yarborough and wife, Chelsea Yarborough of Statesville; Bryan Houser of Hickory; Vicki Huffman, Eugene Huffman Jr., and Michelle Whelchel and husband, Daniel Whelchel, all of Charlotte. Mrs. Houser has eight great-grandchildren and is also survived by her brother, Thomas Crowder and wife, Dottie Crowder of Hickory; and a sister, Ruth Crowder, of Hickory. Mrs. Houser is survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday March 31, at Mt. Vernon Baptist Cemetery of Vale. Officiating the service will be Rev. Marvin Yarborough, and Rev. Phillip Yarborough.

Junior Little, 89

Junior LittleJunior Edward Little, age 89, of Taylorsville passed away on Monday, March 25, 2019 at Frye Regional Medical Center. He was born on October 24, 1929, the son of the late Garland Fess and Eva Jane Gant Little. During his career, he worked at Bethlehem Realty as a carpenter and was a member of Hickory First Church of God. Junior was a family man and enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to all. Junior also enjoyed working with his hands whether it was woodworking or in the garden. He was always working on something. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers; four sisters; and best friend Dexter Deal.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 70 years Mary Ruth Bowman Little; children Wanda Rugg & husband Norman, Pam Barber & husband Jimmy, Johnny Little & wife Debbie R., and Donna Woodring & husband Randy; sister Blondell Cline & husband Clay; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; along with a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 28, 2019 from 1:30 pm – 3:15 pm at Alexander Funeral Service. The funeral service will follow at 3:30 pm in the funeral home chapel with the Dr. Michael Hone officiating. Burial will follow at Old Pisgah Cemetery in Bethlehem. Donations may be made to the Building Fund at Hickory First Church of God at 306 14th Street SW; Hickory, NC  28602.

Blade Campbell, 23

Blade CampbellBlade McKinley Campbell, age 23, of Taylorsville passed away unexpectedly on Sunday March 24, 2019.  He was the son of Shannon Michelle Pennell Wike and Jason Wayne Campbell. Blade worked at the Taylorsville Walmart as a stocker and was agnostic.  His hobbies included photography, riding motorcycles, hiking and he loved working on cars and going to the beach. He loved music and was all about that bass! Blade was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jerry Wayne Campbell.

Along with his parents, those left to cherish his memories include his stepfather Alan Wike of Johnson City, Tennessee, sister Adara Campbell of Johnson City, Tennessee, stepsister Rilea Wike of Blowing Rock, stepbrother Dalton Wike of Taylorsville, three brothers, Shane Frank & Logan Campbell of Statesville and Brody Campbell of Salisbury, maternal grandparents Frankie and Debra Pennell of Taylorsville, paternal grandmother Kathy Campbell of Taylorsville, great grandmother Mable Petrea of Taylorsville, aunt Amanda Woodcock of Pasco, Washington, uncles Kelly Pennell and Justin Campbell of Taylorsville, niece Meika Rendon of Johnson City, Tennessee along with a number of cousins.

The family will receive friends on Saturday March 30, 2019 from 6 – 9 pm at Alexander Funeral Service. There are no formal funeral services planned. Inurnment will be with the family. Linda Jones, 65

Linda Sue Jones 65 of Taylorsville passed away on March 19,2019 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born July 25, 1953 to Elza and Lillian McKinney Alberts. Linda was a cashier in the retail sales industry and of the Christian faith. She was preceded by both parents, her husband Vester Jones,son Randy Scott Jones, brother Elza Eugene Alberts and a sister Kathy Vandergrift.

Those left to cherish her memories are three sisters Diane Alberts of Taylorsville, Debbie Chrislip, Sherry Miller, brother Ricky Alberts of Logan West Virginia, son Greg Jones and wife Susan of Chapmanville West Virginia, three grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

There will be no formal services at this time.

Ruth Hayes - Memorial FolderRuth Campbell Hayes age 83, of Hiddenite, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Born September 15, 1935 to the late Weddie and Garnette Queen Campbell. Ruth was an assistant supervisor at Southern Devices. She was a faithful member at Linney’s Grove Baptist Church. Known for having a servant’s heart, being a neighbor to all and always caring and helping when she could. She loved gardening and enjoyed sharing the fruits of her labors with friends and neighbors. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Robert Wayne Hayes, Sr.; granddaughter Tiffany Crouse; twin brother Ralph; and brother J.W. Campbell.

Those left to cherish her memories include her children Patty Honeycutt and husband Eddie of Winston Salem, Kathy Crouse and husband Dennis of Bethlehem, Sandra Kale and husband Leonard of Hiddenite, Karen Brittain and husband Mark of Hiddenite, and Robert Wayne “Robbie” Hayes Jr.  of Hiddenite; 8 grandchildren Angel, Cory, Natasha, Monica, Brandon, Joe, Jared and Sarah; 19 great grandchildren Christopher, Evan, Elizabeth, Ben, Abi, Elijah, Ali, Rhett, Hannah, Leah, Davyn, Brax, Rayna, Ryker, Bo, Josiah, Moriah, Elam, and Caroline, who is expected soon; special sisters in law Roena Millsaps of Taylorsville and Pauline Campbell of Troutman; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Alexander Funeral Service from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Funeral will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at Linney’s Grove Baptist Church at 4:00 pm. Officiating will be Rev. Eddie Honeycutt, Cory Honeycutt and Gary Lawrence. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery. Sisrow CutshallSisrow Cutshall, age 90, of Granite Falls passed away Sunday, March 17 at his residence. Born in Greene county, Tennessee on November 12, 1928 to the late Ferris and Mary Thomas Cutshall. He served in the Army during the Korean period. Sisrow was a railroad foreman with the Southern Railway. He enjoyed gardening, wood working, anything outdoors and loved his dogs. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant son Lonnie; four sisters Nancy & Bonnie Cutshall and Gracie & Thelma Bullman: three brothers Walter, Worley & Boyd Cutshall; and great grandson Logan Huffman.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 67 years Verna Mae McDevitt Cutshall; children Nancy Ann Lingerfelt and husband Reed of Hudson, Donnie Cutshall of Granite Falls, Steve Cutshall and wife Mary of Granite Falls, Edward Cutshall and wife Cathy of Granite Falls, Kenneth Cutshall and wife Vickie of Granite Falls, and Dean Cutshall and wife Debbie of Hickory; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; brother Woodrow Cutshall of Weaverville; special friends Darrell Johnson, Jack Williams and Michael Griffin; along with  a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 19, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Temple Hill Baptist Church in Granite Falls. The funeral service will be held on March 20, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Temple Baptist Church in Granite Falls with the Rev. Randall Roberts, Rev. Daniel Parker and Rev. Darrell Hatchell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Military rites will be provided by Caldwell County Veteran’s Honor Guard Inc. Pallbearers will include Wesley Cutshall, Brandon Adams, Paul Herman, Eli Hawks Owen Adams, Shaun Haynes, Trent Ostrander, and Lonnie Thomas.

Sybil SipeSybil Cline Sipe, of Taylorsville passed away Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Valley Nursing Center in Taylorsville. She was born December 19,1925 to the late George and Minnie Mays Cline.   Mrs Sipe retired from Alexvale Furniture in 1991.  Sybil enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grand children.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Wenter Sipe, son Charles W. Sipe grand son, Michael W. Sipe, two sisters Ruby Helton and Mary Reese and three brothers, William, John and Jimmy Cline.

Those left to cherish her memories include her two daughters Brenda (Greg) Slaughter of Bethlehem, Shirley (Dale) Childers of Taylorsville, daughter in law Judy Sipe of Bethlehem, seven grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 8 Great-Great Grandchildren. One brother Clay ( Blondell)  Cline  of Taylorsville, and a number of nieces and nephews.

 

Family will receive friends on, Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 2:30 – 3:15 p.m.  at St. Luke Lutheran Church. The funeral will follow at 3:30 pm. at St. Luke. Rev. Andrew Miller will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Elva ReidElva White Reid, age 93 of the Oak Hill Community in Lenoir went to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday, March 10, 2019, at Valley Nursing Center. She was born March 12, 1925, in Caldwell County to the late Porter Roscoe White and Aline Penland White. Mrs. Reid graduated Oak Hill School as Valedictorian in 1942 and was employed as a seamstress for many years until retirement. Many considered her as their adopted Mother and Grandmother. She was saved in 1942 and was a faithful member of Oxford Memorial Baptist Church. Mrs. Reid loved the Lord, her family, her church family and friends. She had a kind and generous heart and truly enjoyed people and was admired by everyone that knew her. Elva enjoyed traveling and going to the army reunions with her late husband. She was known as the “Card Lady.” Always sending cards to everyone. Elva also enjoyed reading, crafts, and cooking baked goods. She served as Sunday School Teacher, WMU Director, VBS Director, and sang in the choir for many years. She and her husband Odell served in the Baptist Training Program working with Junior and Intermediate age young people. She loved her church and wanted family members and all young people to know Jesus as Savior. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Odell Reid; brother Porter Roscoe White Jr.; and one grandson Bradley Reid.

Those left to cherish her memory include her brother Max C. White (Jane); daughter Vivian Watson (Steve), Carroll Reid (Diane) and Don Reid (Shirley); grandchildren Bianca Money (Chris), Deidre Harrison (Derrick), Phillip Watson (Heather), Shawn Reid; five great-grandchildren, and three great-great- grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 from 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm at Oxford Memorial Baptist Church on Hwy. 90 West. The funeral service will follow at 3:30 pm with the Rev. Neal Walker and Mark Robinette officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice of Catawba at 3975 Robinson Rd; Newton, NC 28658.
